IMEs (Independent Medical Evaluations or Independent Medical Examinations) are performed by both Dr. Hennessey and Dr. Kozakiewicz. Please note that the doctors review all the medical records received in their entirety on their own. There is no substitute for the physician reviewing the medical records. In other words, we do not have an R.N. or a P.A. review the records. Dr. Hennessey and Dr. Kozakiewicz take a direct hands-on approach to reviewing the medical records and take the clinical history from the patient. After performing a detailed medical record review, clinical history, physical examination and, if requested and appropriate, a review of imaging studies, a detailed medical report is generated and placed in the mail within 24 hours of the patient’s appointment time.
Dr. Hennessey and Dr. Kozakiewicz are well versed on the issues that need to be addressed in litigated matters. The doctors always make conclusions relevant to the diagnosis or lack thereof, causality of the diagnosis, appropriate treatment/need for further treatment and return to work status/physical capacities. Both doctors address the physical capacities with an understanding of the standards for doing so in accordance with the United States Department of Labor categories of sedentary, light, medium, heavy and very heavy duty work. Standard physical capacity forms with these categories are filled out by the doctors when physical restrictions are medically appropriate.
